The Owners
Many of you remember Lori and me from our early days at Rockwell’s. Lori was one of your favorite servers, and beginning as a young boy of 14 I worked there in all capacities over the course of the next 18 years. Not only had I met the woman I would eventually marry at Rockwell’s, but I also discovered that I had a passion for the business. After marrying my wife and many years of hard work, my life’s dream became a reality when on January 1st, 2006, Lori and I became the proud new owners of Rockwell’s in Villa Park.
As a young couple with two small children, Rockwell’s has come to epitomize our vision of a family restaurant and bakery that offers quality meals and scrumptious baked goods in a warm and friendly neighborhood setting. The Norman Rockwell’s décor is commensurate with this vision. Whether you are visiting Rockwell’s for the first time, or are one of our endeared regulars, we appreciate your patronage and your satisfaction is always our top priority.
The Bakery
Beyond the quaint surroundings of theCafé & Bakery, Rockwell’s has come to be known for the elegance of its Chocolate Curl Cakes and crowd pleasing Rockwell's Cakes Line. Rockwell’s has also become famous for the unparalleled artistry of its Custom Designed Creative Cakes. Our back room (accommodating up to 40 guests) is a favorite venue for smaller events, family gatherings, and business meetings. For larger events or entertaining guests in the intimacy of your home, you can make selections from our exciting new Catering menu or work with one of our event staff to develop a customized menu.
We began as a Bakery and it still our claim to fame. Rockwell’s Villa Park was made famous by being home to the Original Chocolate Curl Cake and the Fudge Fantasy Cake (every chocoholic’s favorite). While continually striving to perfect and expand our Bakery line, we have also managed to successfully develop the Restaurant, Catering and Banquet venues into thriving sides of the business.
The Chef
We were thrilled over the enthusiastic welcome you gave to Executive Chef, Josh Ussher. Josh has infused the menu with his creativity and passion for cooking and brings with him all the expertise he gained while training at Le Cordon Bleu. Josh steps out of the kitchen from time to time to speak with guests and is always seeking input or suggestions to keep his menu evolving. It is important to Lori and I that you think of this as your restaurant, the place you want to share with your friends and family.
Family Friendly
This year, we introduced Wednesday Family Nights at the Café, which became an instant hit. This is a night all about families where kids (12 and under) can dine for free. Children enjoy their own special menu at tables and chairs just their size. We also show a full length G-rated movie on the 120 inch big screen in our back room. Word has spread, so reservations are best to be sure no one gets disappointed.
Friday nights are another favorite. You can listen to live music while enjoying our new Happy Hour menu, dinner, or indulge in a little dessert and coffee. The music is soft and mellow, and easy to converse over. Many guests take advantage of our bottle of wine specials and make this a “must do” for their Friday evening.
Our Community
Located in the heart of a community that emphasizes family events and strong traditions, Rockwell’s actively supports community events, area schools, the local Rotary, Women’s League, Fire Station #23, the town library, the City Council, local religious institutions of various beliefs, the Make a Wish Foundation and others as a way of showing our appreciation to you as a community.
